Dec 19 - Dec 19, 2017

Happy 28th birthday to the man who poses as a constant reminder
that I am beyond blessed in life just because he's in it.

I love you.

Oct 21 - Beyond Hypothetical Scenarios

Having managed his expectations that I'd be in Roermond only for a couple of days and that I won't be able to be there alone, this morning I decided to spill some more details to him.

"I'll be there, you know."
"I hope so."
"I'll be there."
"I hope so."
"No, I'll be there."
"I hope so."
"Hahaha, Honey, I mean it. I'll be there."
"Seriously!? With?"
"Galuh."
"Bogor Galuh?"
"Yeah."
"Are you serious?"
"I'm serious."

At this point I was literally cracking up. He honestly couldn't believe it. The way his face lighted up. I couldn't control myself; it was so adorable.

"You've booked?"
"Maybe."
"You've booked, haven't you? I can read it in your face."
"Hahahaha, you always can."
"I'm serious. I can start bragging to my friends?"
"Yeah, it's booked."
"It is?!"
"Hahahahaha, yes, Baby."
"You have?! With whom?!"
"Singapore Airlines."
"When?!"
"In early August."
"No, not when you'll be here. When did you book?"
"No, I'll be there in April. I booked the tickets Aug 6 this year."
"What!?"

His face. I wish I had it documented.

"Hahahahahahahaha, yeah. I've been holding it from you for so long."
"You've been keeping this as a secret!?"
"I know right!! I was even only gonna tell you on your birthday but here I am now."
"Sayang, please be your usual self. Be bawel banget as usual. You always tell me everything."

I didn't want to hang up. His reaction was priceless. The look of relief, amusement, excitement; everything mixed up together. Right before I went downstairs to help Mom, he said,

"Happy."

Half a year and I'll have his arms around me again.

Sep 24 - Last 4-ish Monthiversary

Yup, we still keep track! Like honestly, Luis and I have gone past the point of caring what people have to say about us -- situation and tradition included. We're at that place now that, sure, inputs are welcome but not guaranteed to be given a fuck. :P

Best 49 months! Still recovering from the pleasant surprise of surviving 4 years. We know, we know, to most, it's just another milestone. But it's REALLY something to have managed to stay sane all these years. Guess you'll never know what you're capable of if you don't try.

So, cheers to the last monthiversary starting with a 4...... Well, we'd better have closed the distance before the next 4-something comes rollin' in, cause 400th month and still embracing this stupidity of being continents apart from each other is simply unacceptable! :D

Jun 04 - Officially A Weirdo

I wanted him to do something he didn't want to do and according to him I was being pushy (which pushed my buttons cause what I wanted him to do would take less than 10 seconds and require next to no effort on his behalf). So this is his way of being ngambek to me.

Photo censored for the obvious reason called aesthetics :P

And the guy just left the chat room! Un-frickin-believable. I almost spat my water all over my phone. Somebody, hand him the Weird-Ass Award trophy already!

Jun 04 - The Languages He Speaks

As his dad was Dutch and his mom is Spanish, he grew up speaking both languages. Dutch is closely connected to German and Spanish shares vocabulary with Italian. Then given the art of the Roman languages, he understands a little bit of French as well.

With the excellent education system in the Netherlands coupled with his, uh, fondness of online gaming, he is fluent in English, which is what we initially used to communicated in when we first started dating. Now that we've been together for more than 3.5 years, his progress in Indonesian is remarkable. And partly concerning as to how natural it is for him to randomly say, among others:
"Yaudah deh."
"Gapapa kok."
"Ini, ini."
"Bawel banget sih kamu."
"Jangan galak-galak ya."

Oh, trust me when I say the list goes on. The worst thing is we'd combine multiple languages in one saying, it goes something like, "Altijd ya, whenever aku asking for selfies, kamu say, 'Manana' and then enggak pernah do it." Or, "Nanti klaar working jam berapa and makan dinner-nya di mana?" Yup. Bottom line, the only time we would use a full, proper English sentence like a normal human being is during our more-intense-than-an-argument-but-less-snarky-than-a-fight situation, which literally happens once in every blue moon.

What impresses me the most, however, is how well he understands me. How well he detects the emotion I truly feel that I hide behind another. How well he notices the upset tone underneath my chirpy text. How well he interprets my facial expression despite only getting to look at it through the phone screen. How well he senses what I really need him to say to me. How well he listens to my untold needs. How well he speaks my language. The nebulous language that I'm not even very articulate of.

To many, our relationship doesn't make a lot of sense. We live far astray, we see each other after a crazy long period of time, we were raised completely differently, and so on, and so forth. But we speak in the same language, and that's good enough for us for the time being, while we are sorting out the other issues and proving them wrong.

Mar 26 - If I Had to Choose

Enter Guy A.

"Your laugh is music to my ears."

Enter Guy B.

*makes weird poses*
"Wtf are you doing, you weirdo!?"
"I'm Batman."

I'd choose the second type any day at all.
So lucky I AM dating one! :)

Jan 21 - Rank of Importance

On FaceTime Video.

V: You haven't gone to the barber in a long time.
L: You're right. I need to go. You also haven't gone to the salon in a long time ya? *smiles happily*
V: Iya, last time was right before aku had my first day at Korn Ferry ya. So it's like, what, six months now?
L: Six months. So proud of my baby!
V: Awwww, makasih, Sayang. A few days ago Charles and I had a conversation about me being here for six months. Yesterday we also were --
L: No, Sayang, I was talking about your hair. *bursts into laughter*
V: *drops jaw in utter disbelief*
L: Let me guess. "WOW. Just WOW." *laughs harder*
V: I hate you.

Jan 11 - Very Limited Capacity

His flight was on time and per my calculation, he was supposed to be home by midnight. It was 1.30 and I had yet to hear anything from him. Anything could've happened, so when his text finally came thru, I was beyond relief. Makes me wonder, if my mind is this occupied only for worrying about the main man, how can I handle additional individuals! All the more reason to not rush on having kids is what I'm saying. :P

Jan 10 - Boy Next Door.... Who Is Not

He's friendly, sweet, charming, unassuming, sincere, adorable (he'll flip out when he sees I call him this :p). He's that dashing, smart, tall, handsome, polite young man you'll develop a crush on and be dying to get to know and date. He's got Boy Next Door sign plastered all over his forehead..... until I remember he does not live next door.

I wish though. If he did.. He would've been here in Indonesia right now to visit me instead of France.

Okay, fine, France is beautiful, I can't really blame him. Just wish things were easier. Just wish the man were indeed a boy next door.
